Sick Baby and Toddler Essentials
Tis the season for all kinds of viruses going around daycare and preschool. Having a sick baby or toddler is not fun, but there are some things that I have found that make things a little easier. Here is a list of my essentials for when my toddlers get sick.
Sick Baby and Toddler Essentials
Saline mist spray
This works great with the snot sucker and is a good way to keep your baby or toddler’s nose moisturized.
Snotsucker
As a new mom, I was very hesitant to use this thing because it seems disgusting. BUT I promise it works and is really not that gross. It will help your baby or toddler breathe so much easier.
Cool mist humidifier
We use this pretty much all winter long in the girls’ rooms. We have tried a few different ones, and this one is our favorite. It has a nightlight that you can turn on or keep off if you want the room totally dark. And it is one of the easier humidifiers to clean after use.
Boogie wipes
I have a pack of these in my car, in our kitchen and in each of the girls rooms. I feel like in the baby world there is a different wipe for everything, but these will keep your baby’s nose from getting raw if you are constantly wiping it.
Soothing chest rub
This is safe for use on babies 2 months and older and we have used it with the girls since they were really little whenever they have a cold. I rub a little bit on their chest and back before naps and bedtime. It smells so good!
Thermometer
This ear thermometer is the one we have and it works great. When the girls were babies, we used this rectal thermometer for a more accurate temperature.
Sore throat suckers
If your toddler is like mine, they love lollipops. These suckers are great for sore throats.
Tylenol and Motrin
Consult your doctor for correct dosing of medication and before trying any new medication. Motrin is safe to use for babies over 6 months and Tylenol can be used under 6 months old.
