The Best Gifts for Babies 2024

It’s your baby’s first holiday season and you are so excited to get them a gift, but they have no idea what a gift is or how to open in on their own. Here is a little list of toys and things that they will actually use or wear.

Baby blanket: This is the softest, coziest blanket. Both of the girls have it and I steal it all the time for watching movies on the couch. They still sleep with them every night, so this one will carry you through a few years. You can also personalize it with their name or monogram.

Play mat: Ahhh the good ol kicky piano. Since we had this, the colors are really toned down which I really appreciate. The girls were obsessed with this from very early on, like 6 weeks old, and played with it until they were sitting independently.

Contrast book: Younger babies love high contrast pictures. This is such a cute book to put on a shelf in their room that you can also prop on the floor for tummy time.

Baby’s first christmas ornament: The perfect gift for a tiny baby or a niece/nephew/friend’s baby as something small but thoughtful.

Fleece jumpsuit: This is perfect to keep your baby warm, while also being thin enough to be carseat-safe. Great for daycare drop off or stroller walks with a blanket.

Spin a letter: I have yet to meet a baby that does not like this toy in the eight years I have been working with babies. This is it. Baby kryptonite for ages 4 months and up.

Pacifier lovey: We got one of these for Maeve when she turned one and it is perfect for a baby that loves pacis. I love it so much more than the wubbanubs because you can unvelcro the paci and wash this! Maeve is 5 and still loves hers as a comfort stuffed animal to sleep with.

Winter hat: This brand makes the cutest baseball caps and I recently noticed they also have pom beanies! A great personalized gift that comes in a bunch of colors and is not cheesy.

Teether: The best thing to throw in your diaper bag or bring with in the car or stroller.

Stacking cups: This is the toy that stands the test of time. These were one of our most used toys for months (maybe even years if you include using them in the sandbox or water table later on).

Standing activity table: One of our cousins gave this to us when Maeve was little and both of the girls loved it. It kept them so busy and is a great way to practice standing without worrying about something flimsy tipping over. It is very solid and sturdy.

Knit cardigan: I mean, first of all, I want this. Second of all, there is nothing cuter than a chunky baby in a cardigan.

Cozy zipper pajamas: This brand of pajamas is our favorite and this style looks so comfortable for the cold winter months.
