The Best Gifts for Kids Five and Over 2024

The barbie dream house is brought up every single day in our house so that will likely be at the top of the girls Santa list. A few other things on here are on their wish list and some of these we already have and love. This is a fun age because you can finally get anything with tiny pieces without worrying so much! It’s the little things, literally. Here is a list of the best toys for kids 5 and older this year.

Science kit: Mixing potions - what could be more fun?

Crossbody bag: Marley got this for her birthday and it became VERY clear within five minutes that we needed to get this for Maeve for Christmas to avoid many, many fights.

Legos: Every kid needs a large brick of legos.

Watercolors: Art supplies galore! I might steal these, too.

Candy Land: A simple game for kids entering the stage of having a long enough attention span to play a board game.

Rainbow loom kit: This seems right up the alley of a little girl that loves jewelry and crafting.

Polly pocket: A target polly pocket. A dream come true. 90s revival at it’s finest.

Hair styling head: I’m really hoping that by getting this, it will cut down on the many times my hair is combed or brushed while in a bun or the number of clips that are clipped into my hair by my very own hairstylist, Marley, on a daily basis.

Paint by sticker: These are great for kids this age and are easy to bring with you to restaurants, in the car, or just for a quiet relaxing activity.

Perler beads: I have vivid memories of doing these with my sister and mom, so you better believe these are going on the girls’ lists this year.

I saw it first!: The girls are currently really into I Spy and these are a big version of that.

Balance beam: My little gymnast babes want a "real” balance beam so bad, but this is about as real as it’s going to get in our house.

Linking tubes: We’ve played with these at the children’s museum and other friends houses before and they were a big hit! Another great open ended toy to encourage creativity.

Double ended markers: Anything by this brand is great and we are slowly expanding our art supplies as the girls are getting really into crafts and drawing.

Barbie dream house: The ultimate girlhood toy. The girls jaws will be on the floor if they get this.
